October 2020 Passive Income Highlights –

  • 1 Dividend raise – Abbvie
  • 4 Sources of passive Income
  • $660.17 from dividends
  • 17 stocks dripped in September

Woke up this morning to a nice dusting of snow.. Fun times. It’s hard to believe its November already but I’m starting to feel like time just go’s faster the older you get.. haha

October was a good month, went fishing with the boys (Only small Pike) but other than that things were pretty uneventful. The yard was cleaned up, waiting for like 5 trees to finish dropping their leaves and then its time to setup the ice rink.

Halloween was great as our neighbourhood did the whole trick or treating thing. Lots of people setup tables on the driveways with the treats. The tables got pillaged by the older kids though before we could get to a lot of them. haha. Our son broke away from us, since we are too slow and did most of the trick or treating with his friends.. They get old sooo fast. Unfortunately he’s starting to become a fan of the peanut butter cups. Arg!

Alright, Let’s Talk Money!

A monster 31.45% growth rate year over year. It’s great seeing that, as I don’t remember the last time it was over 30%.

If your interested check out our Previous Dividend Income Reports.

Our Drips (Dividend Reinvestment Program) added $25.31 to our yearly forward dividend’s this month.

Trailing 12 Month Return

-4.2% Wish it was better but banks, oil and reits have all been beaten down this year.

Other Income

Private Investment Payment – $500.00

Nothing new here, just our regular monthly payment. (I don’t even have to edit this part every month) Steady Eddy…….

Solar Panel Income

In September (We always get paid a month later) our solar panel system generated 784 kWh. Since we bring in a fixed rate of 28.8 cents per kilowatt hour, Hydro One deposited $225.79 into our chequing account this month.

Last September the system generated $228.96. Pretty crazy how close those numbers actually are, wow.

Total Income for 2020 – $2,325.30

Total System Cost ——–$32,396.46

Total Income Received ——–$7,294.71

October 2020 Purchases / Sales
  • We sold our bepc spin off shares last month and lost 62.49 usd in forward income.
  • Bought 71 shares of Tc Energy. This added $230.04 in forward income.
  • Added 7 more shares of microsoft boosting those divs by 15.68
  • We also added 11 more xaw etf this month.Threw the solar income right at it, This added a couple bucks…

You can read about those moves in this post. October 2020 Stock Purchases/ 1 Sale

With these new purchases our dividend portfolio will now generate over 7k a year. Feels good hitting that milestone!

Financial Goals Update

Increase Dividends by $1,713.42 this year. (bringing our forward income from dividends to $7,500 a year)
  • With New Purchases, Drips and Dividend Raises this month we added $242.14 to our dividend Portfolio. Total increased so far in 2020 is $1,247.22. 72.79% of our goal.

Etf Monthly Purchase of $250
  • We added 11 more shares of xaw etf this month for roughly 315 bucks in our questrade account. Questrade* is great because it offers free etf trades and cheaper stock trading options than most Canadian brokers. $250.00 a month would kill us if we needed to pay high trading fees.
  • * Note the questrade link is a affiliate link and at no additional cost to you, I would get a little payment if you were to sign up. You could get $50 in free trades by using my link though.

October 2020 Passive Income Conclusion

Gotta love the results this report. Grew that restaurant brands international position large enough to get our first drip, Td broke that 100 dollar dividend mark, (making it the first triple digit payment of these months) and a massive year over year growth rate topped off with that sweet Abbvie raise.

Proof is in the results, stick with the plan and watch it grow. I hope you all had a fantastic month as well.

How was your October? New Records? Make Any Purchases?

  4. Awesome Halloween pic! That ABBV raise was an especially tasty Halloween treat. Congrats on an amazing month with double-digit growth! 🙂

  5. Reverse The Crush says:

Congrats on another great month for passive income, Rob! Your totals are climbing. Over $600 from dividends and a Google Adsense payment. Nice work!

  6. John says:

Good stuff Rob. I finally saved enough to make Nortbert’s Gambit worthwhile, and added to my VTI position, as well as to Emera and XEF.TO.

Always great to see the projected dividends rise even in a true roller-coaster of a year!

    • Rob says:

      hey John

Been awhile. Hope life’s been good. So true up and down. At least it seems like things are returning to normal on the dividend front. Companies are back to raising those dividends too!

      keep on stacking

  7. jimmbboe says:

Mmmmm, peanut butter cups!!! Great Halloween photo. Loving the ABBV raise and also the T raise announced just today! Won’t make my target(admittedly ambitious) either but carry on!

    • Rob says:

Those raises definitely bring a smile to my face. While its unfortunate to not hit the targets, its better to set them high and miss then set them to low and hit imo

      Taker ez

  8. PCI –

Fantastic job and love seeing the results. Solar so darn consistent! Hopefully with a warmer weekend, you’ll see more there for November. Don’t give up on the goal! Find more items to sell and keep grinding out investments to add future income. You’ve got this!!

    • Rob says:

      hey Lanny
Thx, Id love it if solar pumped out some serious numbers this month. Its definitely nice outside but its getting dark at 530 these days. Here’s hoping! Ill keep adding but unless I chase yield I dont see it happening. I wanna get more jnj! haha

      cheers Lanny

  9. German says:

Another fantastic month, Rob! You’re keeping the momentum high! Congrats on received another check from Google! Google love that cashflow.

  10. DivHut says:

ABBV is the machine that doesn’t seem to stop. I know many in the DGI space were happy to receive that news especially after soooo many cuts in 2020. Congrats on your October passive income, dividends and all. One thing 2020 taught us is that one source of income is not enough. You need two three or more just to feel “safe.”

    • Rob says:

      hey Hut

Loved that raise and nice to see it hit 100 today. It’s been a great stock.

So true multiple streams is the best way to go. Who knows what will happen moving forward.

  11. Impersonal Finances says:

Congrats on reaching the Adsense $100 mark! At this rate I’ll get there… by 2025! Appreciate the detailed update!

  12. Hey Rob. I need to be more timely on my commenting… It’s almost Thanksgiving here in the U.S. and I’m finally seeing the Halloween photos you are sharing.
In any case, I’d say you had a good October with regard to dividends. $660 on stellar YoY growth… Sweet. And how about all those income sources… That Adsense one is packing a punch these days.
I know we’ve talked about the ABBV raise on Twitter, but I have to mention it again, as it makes me smile when my largest dividend payer decides to boost my pay over 10%… definitely beats the day job.
I enjoyed the scout story at the end, too. I’ll have to try that one out and see what reaction I get. Take care.

    • Rob says:

      hey Paul

All good. Happy Thanksgiving! Got to love that raise and when google once in a while pays me. haha

Glad you liked that scout joke, I thought it was pretty good.
      Taker ez and eat well

Id love to Hear What You Think
