May 2018 – Passive Income Update
May 2018 – Passive Income Update
Hey! It’s that time of the month again. Time to tally all the totals and see how we are progressing.
May isn’t exactly over but I have received all our dividend payments and other sources of passive income for the month. This month has just flew by. Work is just insane. I have been working 60 plus hours a week 6 days a week (Saturday is normally a half day) This is a big reason for my lack of posts currently.
I just finished getting our vegetable garden all setup with the drip line system. Feels good to get that done as the side of our house was a huge mess, this cleans it up more and got to love fresh vegetables! I planted a bunch of Tomato’s and cherry Tomato’s, green peppers, red peppers, some herbs, cucumber’s, bean’s and for the first time we are going to try watermelon’s. I’m looking forward to seeing how those turn out.
The weather has been very nice, and we really hit it off this year with a bunch of the neighbour’s. Its great to have a group of friends so close. Beer’s are always flowing, pool parties and fire’s tend to be constant. The kid’s all get along which is a massive bonus.
Summer is all about camping, we love to go for the weekends. We haven’t went yet but got 2 trips booked and debating setting up another. Anyways let’s see how the progress is going….
4 Stock’s decided to bulk up their dividend’s for me this month.
- Telus raised their dividend by 4%
- Algonquin raised theirs 10%
- Bmo bumped theirs up 3.2%
- National Bank boosted theirs 3.22%

This was the first month Emera and Proctor & Gamble paid me. Very nice! 4 More dividend increases! Man do I ever love dividend investing….. Solar was a little lower than last month because of the ice storm but overall another great month. I’m really looking forward to seeing what June will bring in total.
Jordan aka the moneymaaster has a great series called Know the blogger. Recently I answered all his questions and if you would like to know more about me or other blogger’s check his site out. Pretty cool to learn more about some of you!
Anyways that’s all folks! How did you do?
Cheers

Hey I’m Rob, creator of Passive Canadian Income.
In 2011 me and my wife had almost $60,000 in debt and a negative $7,000 Net Worth. Through hard work and financial education we paid all that off. Now we are focusing on increasing our Passive Income Streams to make the money work for us. Love the progess you have going.
Great to see someone as excited in dividends as me.
I have alot of the same stocks as you with the exception that i hold a bunch of these. Income type fund ones (not even sure of thats what they are classified as).
Anyways.
Eit-un
Dfn
Dgs
To name a few. All monthly dividen stocks. High returns. Im wondering why you dont hold any like these.
Or.. maybe im missing something and shouldnt be holding them lol.
Either way love the blog.
Keep it going
Cheers to the summer 🙂
hey Russ
Thanks alot man. I have never heard of any of those. I will look into them after work tonight.
Thanks for the compliment, glad you like the site.
Cheers
Thanks for helping people understand passive income so much better. Have you ever looked at the exempt market (aka “private market”) for passive income dividends. I see regular monthly dividends that pay 7-13%, depending on which fund you choose. Terms are 1-5 years so less liquid that stocks but higher dividends.
hey Ray
np glad it helps some people. I have only looked into solar grants if thats what you mean. I dont really know many private investment dividend options to be honest.
The returns seem great though. 1-5 years isnt that bad to lock your money up.
Thanks for stopping by
cheers
Let me know if you’d like to learn more. It has nothing to do with solar grants. You will be pleasantly surprised.
hey ray
for sure! tell me more ill look into them.
cheers
Hey Rob,
Thanks for the shout out and for completing the interview!
Also congrats on 3 (maybe 4 now?) consecutive months breaking 1000 in passive income!
Looking forward to seeing some pics of the garden as well!
hey Jordan
np again thanks for including me.
yeah the $1000 month streak keeps going… feels great!
cheers man
Great work. Your growth every single month this year is outstanding by looking at the charts. Not only breaking records, but completely shattering them. You are well on your way. Cheers!
hey Daze
thanks man. yeah for sure! glad I started doing those charts. Some great guy told me how to do them =)
Thanks again
cheers
Hey Rob,
a 317% year over year increase? – insane;-). congrats!!! and a total of over 300$ in dividend income for may is more than solid.
Besides that, it’s cool that you have your own vegetables – saves money too, and tastes better than the stuff from the supermarket…
We had great weather here in Germany nearly all of May – my favorite month. In a few days the world cup of soccer starts and that will lead to a lot of barbecue parties;-)
Take care,
DividendSolutions
hey Solutions

Hi Rob. Those YoY comparisons have been superb to start 2018… nice work! You must have been very busy investing last year.
Gotta love those 4 dividend raises as well. I don’t think there’s a better way to boost future dividend income.
Enjoy and nice weather and the upcoming camping…. always nice to get out of the house after a long winter.
