June 2020 Passive Income Report – 1,588.23
Hot enough for you?
Wow! July and June have been a scorcher here to say the least. Was 43 degrees today and has been in the 35-40 degree range for about 2 weeks now. The lawns are brown and crunchy.. On the plus side. My tan is sick! and you know those solar panels be racking it in these days.
Work remains really busy, but I definitely am noticing a lack of supplies happening. We have to get different irrigation parts due to them not having the parts. Lumber yards are back ordered and said to us they don’t even know what they are getting week to week.. Certain Interlock is a nightmare. Some companies closed down for covid and cant catch up to demand.
It’s a great time to be a landscaper but this heat is a killer. Lucky we have been doing lots of sprinkler systems, gotta run through them after to “test them”
June was another fantastic month. Our mulberry tree busted out in fruits and we beat the birds this time. No pies just straight picking.
We also went away for a weekend camping at Rondeau provincial Park. Loved it, great park and the camping itch now starts. We booked 3 more camping trips for the summer so far. Look at those smiles, My girls!
2020 a year to worry about covid? or a year to remember having great times with your main circle? Wash your hands, smile, say please and thank you. Enjoy it, life’s short.
Alright, Let’s Talk Money!

This is why we do these reports. You want to see that kind of stuff. Little pats on the back saying, hey keep it up. It’s working. Will be pretty dam cool to look back in 5-10-15 years. How many drips will we be rocking then?
If your interested check out our Previous Dividend Income Reports.
Our Drips (Dividend Reinvestment Program) added $32.18 to our yearly forward dividend’s this month.
Trailing 12 Month Return

Nothing new here, just our regular monthly payment. (I don’t even have to edit this part every month) Steady Eddy…….
Solar Income
In May (We always get paid a month later) our solar panel system generated 1,175 kWh. Since we bring in a fixed rate of 28.8 cents per kilowatt hour, Hydro One deposited $338.40 into our chequing account this month.
Last May the system generated $285.15 3 months in a row higher than last year, sweet! The sun is cooking.

June 2020 Purchases
Only 1 purchase last month, well and our usual xaw etf purchase.
- 15 shares of qsr. This added $31.20 usd in forward income. Check out that post here.
Goals Update
Read 3 Books I normally Wouldn’t Consider
- I started reading Rich Dad’s cashflow quadrant again this month. Great book but not a book I wouldn’t normally read. I did finish reading our first chapter book with my son last month – Pokemon. Does that count? Mewtwo is just too powerful, Ash never stood a chance.
Go 3 Times and Pick Up Garbage
- Picked up some garbage while camping at the beach. Shout out to all the people at Rondeau, there really wasn’t that much garbage to pick up. They do a great job. We did grab some big pieces of plastic abs pipe that must of floated ashore. Save the turtles right?
Charities
- We continue to make our monthly donation of 75 bucks to The Nature Conservancy of Canada
Increase Dividends by $1,713.42 this year. (bringing our forward income from dividends to $7,500 a year)
- With New Purchases, Drips and Dividend Raises this month we added $63.38 to our dividend Portfolio. Total increased so far in 2020 is $735.05. 42.89% of our goal.
Etf Monthly Purchase of $250
- We added 9 more shares of xaw etf this month for roughly 250 bucks in our questrade account. Questrade* is great because it offers free etf trades and cheaper stock trading options than most Canadian brokers. $250.00 a month would kill us if we needed to pay high trading fees.
- * Note the questrade link is a affiliate link and at no additional cost to you, I would get a little payment if you were to sign up. You could get $50 in free trades by using my link though.
180 Pounds
- I swore I saw the 199 mark after I took a leak in the morning one day. Unfortunately I ate breakfast….. haha. Back over the 200 mark. At least I’m flirting with it now though. After all the heat at work I didn’t feel like taking the bike out. Ac life!
Diet
- We went strawberry picking and the wife made homemade strawberry Jam. Its awesome and puts smuckers to shame.. Kinda healthy. Still eating more greens, but have been picking up food more now that the wife is back at work. Jenny Craig wouldn’t be impressed….
Conclusion
Well that concludes our June 2020 passive income report. A great month with the family and friend’s. Solid dividends and passive income. We’re blessed. Tim Mcgraw says it best – “Always stay humble and kind….”
I wish you all nothing but the best. Stay healthy, enjoy the summer month’s, say something nice to your spouse, tell your kids you love them and keep making that money work for you.
Cheers!

Hey I’m Rob, creator of Passive Canadian Income.
In 2011 me and my wife had almost $60,000 in debt and a negative $7,000 Net Worth. Through hard work and financial education we paid all that off. Now we are focusing on increasing our Passive Income Streams to make the money work for us. Nice growth in both YoY dividend and Solar panels. Next month’s solar payment should be Toight.
” Lumber yards are back ordered and said to us they don’t even know what they are getting week to week..” Hopefully this is good news for Western Forest..that stock has had a rough go lately
PS – Your daughter is uber cute
All the best. Cheers
haha thanks Jordan
shes definately cute but I may be biased.
Solar should be fantastic this month look forward to it.
Will be interesting to see western forests results or just companies earnings in general.
cheers Jordan!
Great post, as always Rob – as a dividend growth investor not chasing the “bright shiny objects”, this the type of thing I like to read and helps keep me on my path. Enjoy the weekend!
hey Matt
thanks alot! Seems everyones chasing those shiny objects and now we are seeing some insane p/e ratios. Eventually people will get “caught”
stick to your plan slow and steady, and watch it grow.
keep it up Matt
cheers
I noticed you did not list QSR dividend in the list, which paid out on June 30.
Great growth year over year. Keep it up!!
hey pursuit
Like we talked about I dunno why they paid last month. I have never had a payment from them then, so to keep things simple and not confuse these reports I’ll add it to the july income.
Thanks man, cheers
wow looks like you had an amazing month bringing in that sweet sweet passive income! Keep making that money work hard for you, so you don’t have to 🙂
Man, it’s been scorching hot out in Toronto, I think the other day there was a tornado warning!?
hey Dg
thx man
yeah tornado warning and a big downpour flooding their streets. Meanwhile we didnt get any…… lol
Looks like a tornado touched down in last nights storm, this weather is intense. Got some rain last night atleast!
cheers man
Nice month! Great double digit YOY growth! Always nice to see a four-digit passive income month, especially in these times of crisis. Keep up the great work! 😀
thx dynasty
Its great to see, we are fortunate to have changed our financial picture years ago. The snowball grows….
cheers!
Fantastic month for you and the family Rob. Great YoY growth. I really like what you are doing with XAW ETF. Once I max out my TFSA I will be putting my money into XAW ($350 to $700 monthly).
Keep up the great work and have a great summer!
hey Matt
thanks man. The great debate rrsp or tfsa? haha I struggle with that every week. Hopefully by december we will have enough xaw to atleast drip a share. haha!
cheers matt
How much have you invested in total to generate the dividend income ?
hey Ankur
Its currently at around 150k but it all started with that first 500 bucks.
all the best, cheers!
Hey Rob
Congrats on a very solid month. It‘s amazing to see the development of your passive income sources. Yes, there are dividend cuts, we have them all, but cash generation is intact. I like your diversification into solar income. I decided to diversify as well and challenged myself to establish one passive income source each month. Looking forward to see how it works.
Keep it up and all the best!
wow nice shape.
I’m really curious about 1 new income source a month. Will be great to follow along!
what do you have in mind? p2p lending?
thx for the comments its great to be diversified.
cheers!
I’m curious about your solar power income. How king do you think it will take to break even and you start to actually profit? Do you worry that by the time it has been paid off you might have to start replacing parts? Thanks for sharing!
hey Connie
In a way I already feel like we are profiting. We refinanced the house to buy the panels at 2.5% and we generate 7-9% a year.
Probably will take 11 years to break even but at the same time that income is getting put in the market to work harder for us each month.
As for parts – the panels have a 20 and 25 year warranty on them depending on the parts and the roof was done right before they got installed. Heres hoping there is no problems but I guess you never know!
cheers Connie wish you all the best!
Great update Rob. Thanks for being so transparent. Curious why you don’t own any specific bank stocks? RBC,CM,TD etc. They are fantastic to drip, low payout ratios, solid dividends that often increase 2X per year. Most equity ETFs have several banks as top holdings.
hey Gruff
welcome. I enjoy being transparent and am glad to see people see that. I really want to show everyone that they can start investing and dgi works.
We do own alot of canadian banks, but last month they didnt pay any dividends.
You can see my current portfolio on the site. I do own td,bns,BMo and national though.
thx for commenting and wish you the best on your journey as well.
cheers!
LOL I knew that! What was I thinking? Oh wait I wasn’t. I hold CM and BNS myself. They pay their dividends in July. All the best and thanks for your efforts.
Thanks Rob!
You’re killin it, Rob! Dividend income all time high! Keep it up!!
haha thx German!
Nicely done Rob, looking fantastic. Love that you’re dripping so many shares each month. Congrats.
Thanks Bob
not to shabby yourself. Gotta get that drip!
cheers man
Mewtoo was a Boss Rob! There wasn’t any getting around that. Love that you are reading chapter books about your son and the Pokemon universe didn’t forget about the O.G.
From an income and passive cash flow standpoint, congratulations on another impressive month!!
Bert
haha Thanks Bert

Hi Rob
P2P has been added to my Passive Income streams some months ago and what I am now considering is referral/affiliate income, rental income and solar.
Pretty exciting, challenging and I love learning new things.
