May 2017 Dividend Income

may dividend income

Another one bites the dust. May was a great month, we got our season’s passes to Canada’s Wonderland and got a chance to go there this month. Our son has gotten bigger and can now go on some of the better rides. (bumper cars, spinning tea cups etc) We have booked a couple camping trips now for the summer and got the gardens all mulched and ready to go! The market has been pulling back slowly day by day recently, but the monthly dividends keep going up……. Not a huge improvement this quarter but got a lot of things in the works.

Totals For 2017

Dividends Year To Date Total – $432.65
Other Passive Income Year to date – $ 250.00
Total Passive Gains for 2017 —– $682.65
Year End Goal – $2000.00 ——–%34.13 so far (41.66% of year over @ end of may)

We increased our net worth 5.4% over last month (House was appraised higher than I thought)

Purchases

During one of the many pullbacks this month we added to our position in Enbridge

  • We got 50 additional shares at $52.86 per share

We also signed the dotted line on the solar panels. Nothing is guaranteed but its in the process. It all comes down to if hydro has room on the grid for us to sell to them. Either way it cost us $3400 to start the paperwork, which we will get back if this falls through.

We are also in the process of refinancing our house and pulling out a nice chunk of change for additional passive income sources. (max tfsa, solar panels and private investment @ 12%)

Conclusion

The ball is rolling and things are looking good. It was a small increase over the last quarter probably around 4% but if I can consistently get a 4% increase every quarter, I’ll be a rich man soon enough! How was your month? Did you buy anything on the dips?

  1. Who doesn’t like receiving passive dividend income. Keep it going and your see the snowball moving along and growing exponential.

I having tallied my month’s today as I received some dividends yesterday and today. But I think it will be a good month with possibly between $325 and $375. I added some units of HNY today as it is a commission free ETF.

  2. Small or not, it’s an increase. You can’t be unhappy about that. Keep moving forward.

Very nice job here, love the growth and investments you are making. Nice punch to the net worth, raising the bar yet again. Didn’t buy too much in May, except for Grainger (GWW), looking forward to a prosperous June!

PCI, congrats on the recent performance goal. Slowly but surely the small step increments will get you to your target destination.

Based on the recent dividend income, what do you see your annual end of year 2017 dividend yield being….approx?

  7. Awesome updated!!! Sounds like you are making some tremendous progress.

I’m really tempted to add some O and NNN into my portfolio with them both retreating from the highs. I need to explore some more this weekend but I’m definitely getting closer to pulling the trigger.

Dividend increase … check, net worth increase … check. Refinance house so you can get more money in your pocket… check. Use the extra money and dividend to reinvest… check. That’s how we all snowballing. And eventually that giant dividend ball is going 4 figures and 5 figure then 6 figures.

    Cheers to the future!

Awesome job for the month of May. As you said, the markets may be pulling back (or fly high) but no matter, those dividends continue to roll in. Your year over year total tell the whole story. Congrats on that achievement. I see you hold two of the large Canada banks I still do not own, BMO and NA. Perhaps one day I’ll diversify further with those names too. Thanks for sharing.

So what are you planning to use the funds for after you refinance? Buying more stocks on the dip? I have been adding to my position when ALA and IPL pulled back recently. I am hoping that ENB goes below $50 per share so my put options get executed. I have till January 2018 before it expires.

Nice year-over-year increase! Thanks for sharing. You’ve got a good group of companies paying you. They’ll serve you well over the long term. Cool news about the solar panels too. I think here in the US we still have some tax incentives left. Anything similar in Canada? The solar panels are getting so efficient that pretty soon we won’t even need them in order to stay competitive with more traditional energy.

    • hey Scott thanks for swinging by always nice seeing a new face! not much tax incentives other then if they are registered as business i can get taxes back from purchase and probably write certain things off. I honestly love renewable energy, I feel mankind is taking a step in the right direction!

  15. That’s an impressive increase especially when compared to 2016. It’s also good that you got multiple sources of PASSIVE income!!! That’s just awesome.
